We just completed a very successful Young Writer's Camp
through the Central California Writing Project, hosted by
the Steinbeck Branch of the Salinas Public Library in
Salinas, CA. The project was to create VoiceThreads around
student-generated topics, with the option to write about
our filed trip on the second day to Museo Eduardo
Carrillo, a mini-museum within the Steinbeck Center, where
curator Betsy Andersen led 13 middle school students in
creating watercolor self-portraits.
The project results are viewable at
http://ywc08.ed.voicethread.com/#u2756
and a partial curriculum is available at
http://ywc08.pbwiki.com/FrontPage
We compiled the various VoiceThreads into a single iMovie
and then exported that to a DVD which each student got to
take home. Their VoiceThread accounts are still active,
and a couple of the students have continued using the
resource on their own.
Enjoy, Fred
